The American Library Association named MARIE EQUI: Radical Politics and Outlaw Passions a Stonewall Honor Book in the Israel Fishman Non-Fiction Award category. The biography of the political firebrand and first publicly known lesbian on the West Coast was one of four titles recognized in the 2016 Stonewall non-fiction category. The selections represent “exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience.” More information can be found at the ALA news release: http://goo.gl/OghcuO The Stonewall Book Awards are the first and most enduring awards for GLBT titles. They are official awards of the American Library Association granted under the auspices of the GLBT Round Table (GLBTRT) and were first awarded in 1971. The Stonewall Book Awards will be presented at the ALA’s Annual Conference on June 26, 2016 in Orlando, Florida.
